Oculoplasty (also known as ophthalmic plastic surgery) focuses on the parts of the eye around the eyeball — the eyelids, tear-drainage system (tear ducts), orbit (eye socket) and the tissues around the eye. At Anil Eye Hospital, we provide advanced and comprehensive oculoplasty care, combining both functional (medical/vision protection) and cosmetic (appearance) aspects.
Conditions & Common Symptoms
You may need an Oculoplasty expert’s guidance if you experience:
Blepharoplasty is a procedure for removing or repositioning excess skin, bulging fat or sagging muscle around the upper or lower eyelids. When the eyelids sag, it can make you look older, tired, or may even impair vision in upper eyelid cases. In the lower eyelid, fat bulges or “bags” under the eyes can give a worn-out look.
We use hidden/incision-in-fold techniques (upper eyelid crease) and trans-conjunctival (inside eyelid) approaches (lower eyelid) so scars are minimal or invisible. Typical procedure time: 1–2 hours, under local or mild sedation anesthesia.
The results can last 7-8 years (upper eyelid) and up to 10-12 years (lower eyelid) depending on your skin, age and lifestyle.
Ptosis is when the upper eyelid droops down and may cover part of the eye or interfere with vision. It can be from ageing, trauma, by birth, nerve causes, or congenital. We evaluate the muscle that lifts the eyelid and plan repair to restore normal lid height, function and a natural-looking symmetry. It is also essential to prevent Lazy eye (Amblyopia) and assure proper visual development in children with eyelids covering the visual axis
Entropion: Eyelid margin (usually lower) turns inward and the eyelashes rub the eye — causing irritation, redness, tearing, and risk of corneal damage.
Ectropion: Eyelid margin turns outward and the eyelid does not sit properly against the eyeball — causing watering, exposure, dryness.
We use corrective surgery to reposition the eyelid margin, remove extra skin or tighten the supporting structures to restore proper alignment.
Our oculoplasty-oncology unit evaluates, diagnoses and treats tumors around the eye: on the eyelid, conjunctiva, or orbit (eye socket). Early detection is critical for vision preservation and overall health. We combine advanced imaging, histopathology and microsurgery techniques for best outcomes.
DCR (Dacryocystorhinostomy): When the tear-draining (nasolacrimal duct) is blocked, tears can overflow (epiphora) or cause repeated infections of the tear sac. In DCR the blocked path is bypassed (new tear drainage channel created) through the nasal side, allowing tears to drain correctly.
DCT (Dacryocystectomy): In cases of suspected lacrimal masses or repeated failed drainage surgeries and recurrent dacryocystitis, the infected sac may be removed to prevent recurrent infections.
These procedures restore comfort, reduce infections and improve quality of life.
For patients who have lost an eye due to injury, disease or surgery, we provide custom-fitted artificial eye (ocular prosthesis) to restore cosmetic appearance, maintain socket health and improve psychological well-being.
