This 57-year-old patient was suffering with blurry vision in his left eye for over a year. His left eye was diagnosed with proliferative diabetic retinopathy, vitreous hemorrhage and macular tractional retinal detachment, and he could only count fingers at 1meter.

Pre-operative consequences:
The vitreous hemorrhage in the preoperative fundus photograph is so dense that it obscures the retina almost entirely.
Under local anesthesia, the patient had day surgery consisting of a Pars plana vitrectomy+ membrane peeling+ endolaser+ fluid air exchange+ silicone oil injection for his left eye.
Post-operative results:
- Post-operative day 57, his best corrected visual acuity was 6/12.
